PM Modi to visit Cyprus, Croatia and Canada for G7 in first trip since Operation Sindoor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a three-nation foreign tour starting Sunday, with stops in Cyprus, Croatia, and Canada. This will be his first overseas visit since India launched Operation Sindoor and also his first trip to Canada since diplomatic tensions spiked over the Khalistani issue.

Modi will begin his journey with a visit to Cyprus on June 15, followed by travel to Canada on June 16–17 for the G7 Summit at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. His final stop will be Croatia on June 18 for an official bilateral engagement.

The Ministry of External Affairs said the Prime Minister will address global issues like energy security, digital innovation, and equitable global growth during the summit. It also confirmed a likely meeting between Modi and Carney on the sidelines, a move seen as an attempt to reset strained India-Canada relations.

India described both nations as “vibrant democracies” and emphasized that the summit will provide a crucial platform for dialogue. The trip also reaffirms India’s commitment to active participation in global decision-making platforms despite recent geopolitical challenges.
